Colonel John Stuart Elementary

Weekly Update: January 15th

Dear families,

Here is your weekly update from Colonel John Stuart Elementary!

A special welcome to Ms. Graham, math coach, who is collaborating with our 4-6 teachers. We continue to gather evidence of how our students are doing in relation to our computational fluency goal in mathematics. She is also supporting us with looking at enhancing our resources in keeping with our priority work. We will discuss student progress in mathematics at our next School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting on Janurary 31st. All are welcome to attend!

Our annual coins for books campaign is starting next week. This is a partnership with Tattletales to update out classroom libraries. Please check backpacks for information sent home last week. Please consider sharing your loose change with us!

Our trip to the Emera Oval on January 19th is fast approaching! Please send in permission forms as soon as possible. We are looking for extra skates and helmets. If you can help with this, please let us know!

A special thank you to all our volunteers who help make school trips happen! A reminder that chaperones must have volunteer paperwork up to date in the school office. Ms. Robertson has sent out emails to those who have offered to chaperone indicating whether or not we have your paperwork on file. Please see the Volunteer Background Check policy for additional information: https://www.ednet.ns.ca/docs/volunteerbackgroundcheckpolicyen.pdf . Please understand that we cannot make exceptions. Student safety is paramount!

A reminder that students will need to bring a lunch with them to the Oval. For those students who have ordered a hot lunch from the Lunch Lady on January 19th, please note the following delivery date change. Lunches ordered for Friday, January 19th will now be delivered on Thursday, January 18th. We hope this change will be a help to families and will eliminate students having two lunches on the Friday.

Have a wonderful week!
